Above & Underneath
This album stretches through almost three decades I terms of writing and life experience, but it’s true expression wouldn’t have been brought to light without my friend Åsa Gjerstad.
Nor would the story of this album have been fully told without producer and creative collaborator Neill Cardinal Furio. So, let me take this opportunity to quote him.
“Like many a handmade, homespun creation, this LP was both a years-long labor of love and an urgent document of loss. This album was recorded 2003-2004.
Some of the songs were written during a retreat in the woods of Småland/Sweden reflecting on the experiences from the north pacific living in Vancouver at the end of the nineties. A theme which is also partly present on the newly released album Above and Underneath. Some of the lyrics contemplate everyday life back in my hometown and the years that passed after my return.
My gratitude first and foremost goes out to my friend Jonas Hult who was not only a very good musician and collaborator with song arrangements but also a support personally in good times and in bad.
I am also very proud to have Jens Jungmark (1973-2012) present with his extraordinary musicality on this record.
The music was never published but three songs were featured in short films/videos collaborating with Mikael Ericsson Duffy.
This is both a 20 year anniversary as well as a new record release.

This album was already a throwback when it was published in 2008. It was pulled back at some point but republished this year. It was recorded in collaboration with sublime guitarist Peter Tegnér.
Most of these songs were written between 1997-99 in Vancouver, Canada while attending performing arts studies A couple were written at the time of the recordings which was a decade later in Malmö, Sweden. All except for drums was recorded in a rehearsal studio and in the storage of an oriental carpet gallery in Malmö. The album was published in 2008 but later pulled back from distribution.
